Gorgeous Cakes

We were asked to produce a new logo which you can see on the right, the brief was very well thought out and good to work with, we've reproduced it here as a great example of a design brief:

‘I want this logo to identify Gorgeous Cakes online, in leaflets, magazines, and at wedding fairs so it needs to be quite distinctive, but still fit in with the weddingy/celebration (mostly young and female) market. Lots of the big designers use a lot of pink and black. I don't want either colour for Gorgeous Cakes.

Must be classic/timeless so it will last- even if I ask you to tweak it in the future I'd like a logo that is still recognisable.

I want it to say Gorgeous Cakes is creative, original, fun, individual, quality. Craftsman/artisan not home made. Grown-up. I hesitate to say expensive, but I want people to know they won't get a cheap and cheerful wedding cake from me. My cakes are certainly not London celebrity cake maker prices, but my customers are people who are prepared to pay for quality.

Gorgeous Cakes makes wedding cakes, celebration cakes and decorated cookies, seasonal and corporate cakes. Sculpted cakes that don't look like cakes! The main part of my business is weddings, but I don't want to exclude everyone else.

Everything is hand made, from scratch, to original designs. I'm building up a good network of higher end venues/wedding planners, media contacts as well. The brand needs to reflect that.

The logo needs to be used on a wide range of marketing materials from cards to trade stands. It would be quite nice if it had elements or characteristics that could be translated into cake/cookie decoration'
